NYMC works in partnerships with other agencies and organizations to bring more attention to the needs of older people and especially those with Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia. Working together builds a stronger community, and we look forward to growing our network of partners.

On July 1, 2011, NYMC received a grant from the the Brooklyn Community Foundation for scholarships to cover the fees for new members as they await Medicaid determination. We are grateful that the Brooklyn Community Foundation responded to our call for community support, and their grant of $15,000 comes with the challenge to our Board of Directors to raise an equal amount this year. This support will go a long way to help more families make use of our center.
Our “Peace of Mind” package of services in cooperation with Senior Helpers makes it easy for busy caregivers to get the help they need. Along with experts from Senior Helpers, NYMC Executive Director Chirstopher Nadeau writes regularly on the NYC Senior Care blog. Click on the logo to read the latest columns.

Fresh Art brought their talented volunteers to our center and led a sock monkey workshop in 2010. We have many talented sewers among our members. We partner with other artists for ongoing art projects. In addition, children from PS 124 entertain on holidays with their songs, costumes, and energy.
We held memory screenings at the Brooklyn Public Library and the Bay Ridge Center in cooperation with the Brooklyn Caregiver Resource Committee, Prospect Park Residence, Brooklyn Alzheimer’s Disease Assistance Center at SUNY Downstate, Bay Ridge Center, Prospect Park Residence, the Borough President’s Office, and Senior Helpers.
