On Friday, April 13, two workshops at the Restoration Plaza Economic Solutions Center, 1368 Fulton St., Bedford-Stuyvesant, (Map) will help people understand the disease and prepare for the day-to-day care of a loved one with Alzheimer’s or other types of dementia. Participants may attend one or both workshops.

Restoration Plaza workshops for dementia Caregivers 2018“The Virtual Dementia Tour”®, presented by Right at Home Brooklyn, is an interactive experience that helps participants better understand the realities of life for persons living with Alzheimer’s Disease and dementia. This sensory training workshop helps caregivers and health care workers make better caregiving and health care decisions by understanding what their loved one or client is coping with on a daily basis. The workshop is at 10:00 a.m. on April 13 and is free and open to the public.

Dementia caregivers workshops at Restoration Plaza“In-Home Safety and Activities” is the second workshop on April 13, also at Restoration Plaza. It begins at 11:15 a.m. and offers specific safety tips and examples of activities that make caring for a person with dementia easier and less stressful. The presentation is designed for those caring for individuals living with Alzheimer’s Disease and other types of dementia.

On Thursday, April 26, two workshops at the Brooklyn Public Library Clarendon Branch in Flatbush/East Flatbush (Map) will help people understand the disease and prepare for the day-to-day care of a loved one with Alzheimer’s or other types of dementia. Participants may attend one or both workshops.

The workshop is at 1:30 pm on April 26 and is free and open to the public.
